FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything you might want to know about how DiveCost prices work.
- What does 'all-in' mean?
- An all-in price is the final amount you'll actually pay — it already includes things like gear rental, insurance, marine-park fees and tax. A 'base price' is just the starting rate, with extras added on top. We label every price so you can compare fairly.
- How do you verify prices?
- We read each price directly from the dive center's own official website — the one registered with its certification agency (PADI, SSI or SDI). We never use resellers or aggregators. Every price is stamped with the date we last checked it.
- How current are the prices?
- Each price shows a 'verified' date, and its color ages over time — green when fresh, amber after six months, red after a year. If something looks out of date, you can flag it and we'll re-check.
- Is DiveCost a booking site?
- No. We don't sell dives or take a booking commission. DiveCost is a comparison layer — we show you the real cost and link you to the operator. Some links may be affiliate links, which are always disclosed.
- Where do the dive centers come from?
- From the official PADI, SSI and SDI dive-shop locators. That means every listed operator is a certified, legitimate business, and resellers are excluded by design.
- A price is wrong — can I fix it?
- Yes, please do. Use the 'Update this price' button on any dive center. We verify corrections against the operator's website before publishing. Community corrections keep the data honest.
- Which destinations do you cover?
- We're expanding destination by destination, fully researching each one before publishing rather than listing everywhere shallowly. Price quality is the whole point, so we'd rather have a few destinations done right.
- Is DiveCost free?
- Yes, completely free for divers. We may earn a small affiliate commission when you book through some outbound links, at no cost to you — and it never changes the prices we show.
